Huijbert was born in 1733 in Nieuwaal and his baptism took place on November 1st, 1733 in Gameren.1 2   His godmother was Peterke Huybertsdr van Haaften. Huijbert's father was Cornelis Thomaszn van de Laar and his mother was Pieternel Dirksdr van der Velde.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Corneliszn van de Laar and Sara Petersdr van Haaften; his maternal grandparents were Dirk Pierszn van der Velde and Annetje Sijbrantsdr N.N.. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Dirk, Peter, Jan, Sybrand, Saerke, Sara and Anna.  He was the eighth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 12 in 1745 in Gameren.3
