Jacob was born in October 1729 in Nootdorp and his baptism took place there on October 2nd, 1729.1   His godmother was/is Grietje Jacobsdr Hogervorst. Jacob's father was Jacob Jacobszn Hogervorst and his mother is Neeltje Claesdr van den Bosch.  His paternal grandparents are Jacob Jacobszn Hogervorst and Marijtje Dirksdr Vermeulen. He had a brother and five sisters, named Dirk, Marijtje, Geertje Jacobsdr, Anna, Lena and Anna.  He is the third oldest of the seven children.
