Jan was born in 1706 and his baptism took place on April 11th, 1706 in Haaften.1   His godmother was/is Jenneke Jansdr. Jan's father was Teunis Handrikszn Aldens and his mother is Meriken Jansdr Pippel.  His paternal grandparents were Hendrick Dirckszn Aldens and N.N. N.N.. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Handrick, Dirck, Geijsbert, Aeldert, Gijsbert, Arien, Catharijn Teunisdr and Metje.  He is the second oldest of the nine children.
