Solomon was born on April 18th, 1867 in London.1   Solomon's father was Raphael Costa and his mother was Rebecca Levy (Lee).  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Costa and Hanah Capu Barzilay. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Samuel, Juda, Judah, Haim, Jacob, Issac, Hannah, Catherine, Esther, Elizabeth and Hannah.  He was the seventh oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 45 in June 1912 in City of London.2

Solomon and Betsy were married in a religious ceremony on August 17th, 1886 in Bevis Marks.3   They had four sons and five daughters, named Dick, Alf, Louis, David, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Sarah, Kitty and Nancy.
