Nancy's father was Solomon Costa and her mother was Elizabeth (Betsy) Heiser. Her paternal grandparents were Raphael Costa and Rebecca Levy (Lee); her maternal grandparents were Abraham Heiser and Sarah Levy. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Dick, Alf, Louis, David, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Sarah and Kitty. She was the youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 63 in 1967.¹
