Kitty's father was Solomon Costa and her mother was Elizabeth (Betsy) Heiser. Her paternal grandparents were Raphael Costa and Rebecca Levy (Lee); her maternal grandparents were Abraham Heiser and Sarah Levy. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Dick, Alf, Louis, David, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Sarah and Nancy. She was the eighth oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 82 in 1985.¹
