Caroline was born in 1831.  Caroline's father was Samuel Knowles and her mother was Ann (Annie).  Her paternal grandfather was James Knowles and her paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Biggs. She had seven brothers and five sisters, named Corbin, Chester, Manoah, Samuel, James, John , Frank, Harriett, Ruth, Melissa, Elizabeth and Mary Ann.
