Ellen Austen

Ellen was born in 1882 in Wittersham, Kent. Ellen's father was William Austen and her mother was Catherine Slingsby. Her paternal grandparents were Esau Austen and Ellen Wilson; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Slingsby and Hannah Baker. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Samuel, Emma, Catherine, Hannah, Cecily and Beatrice. She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
