Samuel was born in 1722 in Hawkhurst, England and his baptism took place there on October 22nd, 1722.  Samuel's father was John Austen and his mother was Ann Pearce.  His paternal grandparents were David Austen and Ann Unknown. He had two sisters named Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the three children.
