John was born in 1695 in Hawkhurst, England and his baptism took place there on February 6th, 1695.  John's father was David Austen and his mother was Ann Unknown. He had a brother and three sisters, named David, Mary, Ann and Martha.  He was the youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 36 on January 25th, 1731 in Hawkhurst, England.
