Emily was born in 1866 in Horton, Tasmania, Australia.1  Emily's father was John Steer and her mother was Emily Jane Mears. She had seven half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Arthur, George, William, Frederick, Albert, Leslie, Alfred, Minnie and Lottie.  She died in 1866 in Horton, Tasmania, Australia.1
