Elizabeth was born in March 1857 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex.1   Elizabeth's father was Bartholomew Preston and her mother was Rebecca Mary Ann Crouch. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Alfred, Bartholomew, George, Henry, John, Rebecca, Rosina and Ada.  She was the oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 28 in June 1885 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex.2
