David was born in 1759 in Oakley, Hampshire and his christening took place there on May 14th, 1759.1 2   David's father was William Oliver and his mother was Anna Decker.  His paternal grandparents were William Oliver and Mary. He had six brothers named William, Isaac, Francis, Jacob, Charles and Peter.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
