Thomas was born in 1776 in Kellington, Yorkshire and his christening took place there on January 9th, 1776.1 2   Thomas' father was Thomas Moverley and his mother was Ann Weldrake.  His paternal grandparents were Nicholas Moverley and Mary  Ward. He had a brother and four sisters, named John, Mary, Hannah, Ann and Elizabeth.  He was the second youngest of the six children.
