Nicholas was born in 1742 in Kellington, Yorkshire and his christening took place there on October 17th, 1742.1 2   Nicholas' father was Nicholas Moverley and his mother was Mary  Ward. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, William, Abraham, Mary, Ann, Mary and Elizabeth.  He was the second youngest of the eight children.
