Mary was born in 1729 in Kellington, Yorkshire and her christening took place there on December 29th, 1729.1 2   Mary's father was Nicholas Moverley and her mother was Mary  Ward. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, William, Nicholas, Abraham, Ann, Mary and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the eight children.
