Robert was born on February 1st, 1843 in Highbridge, Burham,Somerset.1   Robert's father was Joseph Christopher Bugler and his mother was Martha Theresa Stevens.  His paternal grandparents were James Bugler and Elizabeth Ragless. He had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Joseph, Luke, Luke, Jane, Mary and Maria.  He died at the age of 36 in September 1879 in Southampton, Hampshire.2
