George was born on July 31st, 1917 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex.1   George's father was Charles Edward Brackett and his mother was Eliza Frances Mortimer. He had five brothers and six sisters, named John, Frank, Charles, Henry, James, Clara, Louisa, Eliza, Alice, Rose and Violet.  He was the fourth youngest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 72 in September 1989 in Manchester, Lancashire.1
