Hannah was born in 1777 in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire and her christening took place there on January 6th, 1777.1   Hannah's father was William Avis and her mother was Elizabeth.  Her paternal grandparents were Nathanial Avis and Mary Ellyot. She had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, William and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
