Matthew was born on May 2nd, 1908 in Tynemouth Co Northumberland England.  Matthew's father was Alexander Scott Comb and his mother was Isabella Phillipson.  His paternal grandparents were Mathew Comb and Jane Scott; his maternal grandparents were William Phillipson and Annie Keen Thompson. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Alexander, Thomas, Richard, Ralph, William, John, Mary Anne, Margaret and May.  He died at the age of 74 on May 8th, 1982 in Newcastle on Tyne Northumberland England.
