David was born in 1905.  David's father was Schmil (Samuel) Fern and his mother was Chana Feige Lowenthal.  His paternal grandparents were Salmen Fern and Golda Rispler; his maternal grandparents were David Lowenthal and Czupa Chupa/Zipora /?. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Hersch Leib, Schlomo Zalman, Jakob, Josef, Chaim, Czupa, Ruchel, Scheindel Ester and Ettel Ronie Etka.  He was the youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 19 in 1924.
