Thomas was born about 1768 and his baptism took place on September 25th, 1768 in Welton East Yorkshire.1   Thomas' father is Robert Garton and his mother is Rebecca Fox.  His maternal grandfather is Thomas Fox. He had five brothers and a sister, named William, John, Mathew, Robert, Thomas and Hannah.  He is the oldest of the seven children.
