Wiilliam was born in May 1770 in Barking Essex and his christening took place on May 29th, 1770 at St Margaret's Barking.1   Wiilliam's father was Henry [fisherman] Thredder and his mother was Priscella Vere.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Thredder and Jane Marchant; his maternal grandfather was Henry Vere and his maternal grandmother is Mary. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Henry, William, Joseph, Bannister, John, Jane, Mary, Priscella, Sarah and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the eleven children.
