Matilda was born in 1808 in Barking Essex.  Matilda's father was Samuel Ship (Blacksmith) and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Duffield. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Samuel, William, Charlotte, Mary , Sarah and Rebecca.  She died at the age of 60 on November 18th, 1868 in Barking Essex.  The funeral took place in November 1868 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.  She was buried in November 1868 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.1 2
