Thomas was born in January 1851 in Heath Street Barking and his christening took place on April 7th, 1854 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.1  Thomas' father was Thomas Douglas Perry (Fisherman) and his mother was Jemima Pollard .  His paternal grandparents are William Perry (Porter) and Douglas; his maternal grandparents were James Pollard (net maker Fisherman) and Jane Malpas. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Henry, Francis, John, Jane, Margaret, Jemima, Mary and Sarah.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.

Thomas and Mary  were married in a religious ceremony on October 9th, 1872 in Old Clle Church Grimsby witnessed by Albert Scofield & Margaret Perry.
