Catherine was born in 1870 in Bromley.1   Catherine's father was Robert Osborne (Engineer scotsman Aberdeen) and her mother was Elizabeth Catherine (of Chignal) Childs (dressmaker).  Her maternal grandparents were Zachariah Childs (Farmer Shoemaker) and Sarah Tyler. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Richard, Robert, Arthur, Jessie and Barbara.  She was the second youngest of the six children.
