Esau was born on August 21st, 1836 in Halstead Essex and his christening took place on August 29th, 1836 in Congregational Church Halstead Essex.  Esau's father was Samuel  Brewer (Iron Work Labourer) and his mother was Elizabeth.  His paternal grandfather was John Brewer and his paternal grandmother is Susan. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Benjamin, Samuel, Jerimiah, Thomas, Dianna and Sarah.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 42 in December 1878 in Barking Essex.1

Esau and Sarah were married in a religious ceremony in 1857 in Halstead nr Colchester Essex.  They had a son and two daughters, named Arthur, Jessie and Alice.
