    Jerome WALKER, son of Louis Bernard WALKER, in 1977:  "William never married.  Liked to play his violin.  Read books.  Was a great believer in some psychologist of his day that taught that you could tell what a child would grow up to be by feeling the bumps on the kid's head.  Bill was quite often in trouble with irate mothers after he fingered the kid's head and made his pronouncement.  He never did take too kindly to farming and was considered somewhat odd.  Probably a 19th-century hippie."  (courtesy Fran Walker Lichtenberg)

    Evansville diocese, Judy Neff:  Born December 4, 1851 and baptized at St. Peter.  Found a marriage record for a William Walker and a Mary Ellen Lavily at St. Peter on January 22, 1870 but no parents given so cannot determine if it is the correct William Walker.  [Does not appear to be a match; cf. census records.]
