Elisabeth's father was David Stevenson and her mother was Janet Hamilton.  Her paternal grandparents were William Stevenson and Margaret Patrick. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named William, Robert, John, Joseph, James, James, David, Margaret, Jean and Jean. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named John, Margaret and Jessie.
