Janet's father was George Ronald and her mother was Margaret Tours.  Her maternal grandparents were William Tours and Janet Fulton. She had three brothers and three sisters, named George, William, John, Elizabeth, Cecilia and Margaret.  She was the oldest of the seven children. She had a half-sister named Mary.  She died at the age of 67 in 1890 in Paisley.
