George's father was George Ronald and his mother was Margaret Tours.  His maternal grandparents were William Tours and Janet Fulton. He had two brothers and four sisters, named William, John, Janet, Elizabeth, Cecilia and Margaret.  He was the second oldest of the seven children. He had a half-sister named Mary.
