Agnes' father was John Robertson and her mother was Agnes Gourlay. Her paternal grandparents were George Robertson and Martha Carlton McGloughlane. She had two brothers and nine sisters, named William, George, Jane, Rachel, Martha, Isabella, Martha, Mary, Euphemia, Elizabeth and Margaret. She was the fifth youngest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 73 in 1939 in Ayr.
