William Reid

William was born in 1844 in Newton-on-Ayr and his baptism took place on October 6th, 1844 in St. Quivox.¹   William's father was James Reid and his mother was Elizabeth Bell.  His paternal grandparents were Adam Reid and Catharine Fulton. He had five brothers and six sisters, named George, Adam, James, John, Archibald, Catherine, Agnes, Elizabeth, Jean, Mary and Mary.  He was the second youngest of the twelve children.
