Marion's father was Henry Peat and her mother was Janet Arbuckle. Her maternal grandparents were John Arbuckle and Marion Dick. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, John, Mary, Mary, Elsie, Annie, Isabella and Jenny. She was the oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 69 in 1933 in St. Rollox.
