Robert's father was Robert Osborn and his mother was Mary Frazer Hamilton.  His maternal grandparents were Alexander Hamilton and Sara Fraser. He had five brothers and five sisters, named William, Alexander, David, Alexander, Hugh, Sarah, Janet, Mary, Isabella and Elizabeth.  He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. He had a half-brother named Hugh.  He died at the age of 60 on December 5th, 1921 in Nebraska.
