Isabella's father was Kenneth Mackenzie and her mother was Janet Ronald Milton. Her maternal grandparents were Peter Milton and Janet Ronald. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Andrew, Kenneth, Kenneth, Janet and Sarah. She was the third youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 92 in 1995 in Edinburgh.
