Elizabeth's father was James Laurenson and her mother was Jane Martin Johnston. Her maternal grandparents were David Johnston and Janet Cameron Masterton. She had a brother and four sisters, named Robert, Nellie, Mary, Annie and Minnie. She was the third youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 100 on October 26th, 1993.
