Jane's father was David Johnston and her mother was Janet Cameron Masterton. Her paternal grandparents were John Johnston and Ann Hardie Dick. She had two brothers and a sister, named John, Robert and Annie. She was the oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Donald and Davidina. She died at the age of 68 on February 6th, 1935 in Orlando. She was buried in Orlando.³
