Jemima's father was James Hamilton and her mother was Jane Tudhope.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Hamilton and <Unknown>. She had two brothers and seven sisters, named Thomas, Hamilton, Elizabeth, Jeanie, Janet, Margaret, Hamilton, Mary and Belle.  She was the fourth youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 77 in 1944 in New Zealand.³
