Mary's father was John Davidson and her mother was Ann Wilson. Her maternal grandparents were John Wilson and Margaret Rennie. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Charles, <Unknown>, Margaret, Jessie and Ann. She was the oldest of the seven children.
