Elizabeth's father was James McNab Brash and her mother was Barbara Drummond. Her maternal grandparents were William Drummond and Jane Lodge. She had three brothers and two sisters, named David, William, Robert, Jeanie and Barbara. She was the third youngest of the six children. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named James, Margaret, Mary and Janet. She died at the age of 78 in 1967 in Glasgow.
