David's father was David Brash and his mother was Agnes Henderson.  His paternal grandparents were David Brash and Margaret Easton; his maternal grandparents were John Henderson and Jean Spears. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named John, David, Alexander, Jean, Agnes, Agnes, Margaret, Robina, Elizabeth and Magdalene.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 7 on July 6th, 1819 in Leith.
