Alexander's father was Robert Barr and his mother was Isabella Hamilton.  His maternal grandparents were Alexander Hamilton and Sara Fraser. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Andrew, Alexander, John, William, Hugh, James, Margaret, Sarah, Mary and Sarah.  He was the fourth oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 66 on September 8th, 1929 in Kansas.  He was buried in Kansas.
