DEATH OF MRS. ISABELLA BARR
Was Mother of Miss Sadie Barr, Deputy; Register of Deeds
Mrs. Isabella Hamilton Barr, mother of Miss Sadie Barr, deputy register of deeds, and grandmother of Miss Minnie Murray, register of deeds, died at her home in Scammon Saturday night at 9:15 o'clock. Mrs. Barr suffered a stroke of paralysis about 12 years ago from which she never fully recovered, although her death was due directly to sickness which developed about two months ago. She was 79 years, 5 months and 5 days old. Mrs. Barr was born in the Parish of Kilmaours, Scotland, May 22, 1838 and came to America in 1866 at the close of the civil war. She lived in Illinois for a number of years but settled with the family in Western Kansas about thirty years ago. While on a visit at Scammon in 1900, Mrs. Burr's husband, Robert Barr, died, and since that time Mrs. Barr made her home with her daughter Mrs. William Murray at that place. Mrs. Barr was the mother of twelve children, nine of whom are living. They are Mrs. William Murray of Scammon; Andrew Barr of Ft. Smith Arkansas: A. H. Barr of Pittsburg; Mrs. W. C. Strain of Clifton Colorado; John Barr of Cherokee; Hugh Barr of Scammon and Miss Sadie Barr of Scammon; James Barr of Peru, Nebraska and W.H. Barr of Clifton, Colorado. Mrs. Strain happened to be visiting in Scammon and was with her mother at the time of her death. The funeral was held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in chnrge of Rev. Benjamin Berryhill, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of that place. Interment will be in the Weir City cemetery.
