Penelope Elizabeth's father was Doctor Franklin Williamson and her mother was Orpha Goodwin (Godwin).  Her paternal grandfather was Isham Isom Williamson and her paternal grandmother is Margaret Powell; her maternal grandparents were Elias Goodwin (Godwin) and Nancy Baldwin. She had five brothers and two sisters, named William D, Benjamin Franklin, Willis Kendred, John Isom, Marshall Pitman, Louela Ethel and Mary.
