John Roy Tankersley

John Roy was born on May 8th, 1777 in Port Royal, Caroline Co. VA. John Roy's father was George Tankersley and his mother was Dorothy Roy. His paternal grandparents were George Tankersley and Mary Longley Long; his maternal grandparents were Reuben Roy and Mary Jane Morton. He had two brothers and six sisters, named George, William, Ann Fox, Lucy, Elizabeth F, Mary Jane Morton, Caroline Matilda and Dorothy. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 61 on January 8th, 1839.
