George was born about 1680 in Yorkshire, England.  George's father was Reuben Tankersley and his mother was Sarah Ann Beverley.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Tankersley and <Unknown>. He had a brother named Richard.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died in July 1758 in Hanover Parish, King George Co, VA.
