Richard was born about 1676 in Yorkshire, England.  Richard's father was Reuben Tankersley and his mother was Sarah Ann Beverley.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Tankersley and <Unknown>. He had a brother named George.  He was the older of the two children.  He died about 1744 in Caroline Co., Virginia.
