William was born on August 8th, 1853.  William's father was Thomas Marshall and his mother is Hannah Moon.  His maternal grandparents are James Moon and Sarah Jones. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Benjamin, Thomas, Samuel, John, Walter, Sarah Jane, Martha and Bertha.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 83 on July 19th, 1937.
