Hester Lemen was born on August 6th, 1804 in Jefferson County, WV.  Hester Lemen's father was William Marshall and her mother was Mary C. Banes.  Her paternal grandparents were James Marshall and Jane Lindsey. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Jane "Creative Jane", James M., William, Phineas Paxton, John, Elizabeth and Jane.  She was the youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 56 on August 1st, 1861 in Sandy Ridge, Jefferson Cty, WV.  She was buried in Snyder-Hendricks Graveyard, Sandy Ridge Rd, Jefferson Cty, WV.
